Tank Magazine is a quarterly UK magazine that focuses on lifestyle, art, architecture, literature and fashion.[1][2][3]

Contents

Background

Tank magazine, first published in September 1998, is produced by the independent publishing company Tank Publications Ltd., who also publish "O:Magazine" by Tank, the luxury fashion supplement for The Observer in the UK.[4] Masoud Golsorkhi and Andreas Lauefer were the co-founders of the magazine, coming from fashion photography and advertising agency backgrounds respectively. Currently, Masoud Golsorkhi is editor-in-chief and Caroline Issa is publisher and executive fashion director across both titles.[5][6] Additional staff for the magazine included commercial director Vicky Stewart, makeup artist Phyllis Cohen[7] and fashion editor Jo Phillips.[8]

Tank magazine is published four times a year and distributed internationally to a large, worldwide audience. In September 2009, Tank Publications Ltd. launched Because magazine, an online fashion magazine featuring fashion, culture, accessories and beauty.[9]

Cover models

Known for rebuffing the "celebrity" cover tactic, Tank has consistently discovered and pushed new faces on its cover, for instance Natalia Vodianova, who got her first cover on the magazine as an unknown model. Recently, Tank has worked with celebrity cover models who have often posed topless, such as Claudia Schiffer,[10][11] Mary-Kate Olsen,[12] Chloe Hayward,[13] Daiane Conterato,[14] Juliette Lewis and Kate Bosworth.[15]
